Many in higher education, as well as the general public, have been following the battle between the University of Virginia governing board and President Teresa Sullivan. On the surface it appears to be the issue of a president not acting fast enough on a directive–the implementation of a distance learning program–given by a governing board. Yet, it played out in a way that might leave many observers baffled.
